Of Bags and Relationships

I got a brand-spankin' new "bag" a couple of months ago. It was shiny and pretty and it looked like it had all of the things that I needed in a bag. I saw it on the display. It was beckoning to me, calling to me -  the bag wanted me to take it home.

There were actually a couple of other bags on the display. There were some that looked sparkly but you know deep down inside that it's not the type of bag that you wanted. There were others that looked exactly like what you were looking for but when you tried to open the flap, you realized that there just wasn't any kind of connection at all. There were some that had the perfect "bling" on the outside but on the inside it was just blah.

Since I still can't find my "bag", I looked some more. I tried searching for "the one". But I realized that the more I searched, the more elusive it became.

So I stopped searching. I relaxed a little. I prayed a lot. And just when I was about to give up on my quest to find the "perfect bag", something magical happened. There was this one "bag" on the display that caught my fancy. It had all of the little specifications that I was looking for. It was shiny, it was brand new. It was pretty.

I used this bag almost everyday. I brought it with me wherever I went. I've even showed my friends how nice my bag looked. I welcomed the bag in my world. I welcomed the bag in my life. I cleaned it, cared for it. I didn't want to part with it.

But after several months of using the bag, some of its stitching came undone. It still served its purpose but it wasn't like how it was when I first got it. I became disappointed. I blamed it on the (quality of the) bag. There came a point when I felt like the "bag" was neglecting me... like it didn't want me anymore. I felt like the bag was trying to destroy itself on purpose so I can dispose it already.

And then one day it dawned on me -  It wasn't just the bag that lost its luster. I was also to blame because I didn't care for it well. I also had my share of shortcomings. I still care for the bag, don't get me wrong. But there are times when I feel inadequate.

The "ohhhssss" and "ahhhs" that I muttered when I first saw the bag has been replaced with a little whining here and there.

The magic has waned. The luster has faded.

There were times when I thought I couldn't live with it anymore. There were days when the thought of just leaving the bag looked enticing. But did I leave the bag? Did I ditch it? NO.

I am no masochist but I am really very patient when it comes to things that I deem important. I don't think it's right to just leave my bag to the trash only because it's not as functional as when I first got it.  I've gone through good and bad moments with my bag. I've never cared for any other bag the way I do with this one.

There are other bags out there who want me to take them home.  But I really have my eyes focused on this one - "my" bag.

I'm holding on to my bag. I will continue to love and care for it. I will nurture it the best I can. It's been a rough ride lately, but I know things will get better. I know it will.

It's true that love is sweet when it's new. But in reality, it's sweeter when you try to make it through the rough patch and choose to be together even when it really sucks.

So what happens now that the magic's gone? Well, my bag and I will create our own magic. =)

We can do this. I know we will.

You're a falling star, you're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play it coy but it's kinda cute.
Ah, when you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend that you don't know it's true.
'cause you can see it when I look at you.

And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, you make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your (wo)man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

I Love You. =)

You're the man, Pacman!

I love Wrestling. Everybody close to me knows that. Boxing, not so much. I watch it only when it's Manny Pacquiao. Hehe. I woke up around 9am yesterday and I immediately went online. I bugged all my friends who were online in YM and Facebook if they had links to the Pacquiao-Margarito fight.

Of course I didnt want to wait for the Channel 7 telecast. Like most Filipinos, I wanted to watch it live. Jab per jab, pound for pound. Luckily, one of the links given to me had clear live streaming. Yipeeee! So I bought chips, ice cream and soda.  It's a good thing that Pacquiao didn't end the match at Round 4 para sulit naman yung mga chichiryang binili ko. Hahaha! I bought chips good enough to last me till the 12th round.

I was screaming and shouting and cursing the whole time. Hahahhaha! Finally, by round 10, medyo kalmado nako. Alam ko nang mananalo si Manny. I feel sad for Margarito though because this fight would've been a good comeback for him in the boxing industry after having been suspended for a year. Oh well, better luck next time.

Congrats Manny! I love you! You're the man, Pacman! :)

HAHAHAAHHA, ayos ba?

Baby talk

I have a confession to make. I sometimes love to "baby talk". Pag nagpapacute or naglalambing. And sometimes I even record it too. But when I watched this video, wow, grabe, kinabog ako ni Katrina Halili. Hahahaha! Baby talk kung baby talk. Winner! :)

Watch the video. Fave part ko is at 3:17 when Katrina Halili said "Girlfriend mo lang sya, ako asawa mo eh!". Hahaha! I wonder what Vicki Belo felt when she saw this video a year ago.

This is what lust, drugs and stupid love can do to you. So kids, beware!

I had a very busy yet productive week at work. It's a nice way to start the month as I'm within quota. Yehey!

Today, I went to school at 7:30am. 1st day of the 2nd semester. Most professors don't go to class on the first day but I was lucky enough that all my teachers were present earlier. At least ndi sayang yung pagpunta ko! Hehehe.

After school, I rushed off to Makati to host a birthday-slash-slumber party. The kids were all game so it was a very fun afternoon. The party ended around 7pm. I was sooo tired, my legs were a bit sore from standing up the whole afternoon, my head hurts and the only thing I was looking forward to was to go home and sleep and cuddle. But of course, I dont feel like complaining at all because I feel blessed that I have work, school and occasional rakets like this to keep me busy.

You know what would really complete my day? Jacuzzi + massage.

Oh well. Im super spent to do anything! I just wana relax, sleep and cuddle!!!!!!
Good night everyone! Hope all of you had a very productive week too!

The Go-getter

Albert Einstein did not speak until he was four years old and didn't read until he was seven. Thomas Edison was a school drop out. Walt Disney got bankrupt a couple of times before he built Disneyland.

So what do I have in common with these great people? (Hanep sa leveling no? Haha)

We all started with a dream.

Let me tell you my story.

When I was a little girl, I have this rich godmother who always had nice condos and nice cars to her name.  She had a thriving business and she was living the life. I used to visit her in her posh condo in Makati every Christmas and I would always feel excited and jumpy everytime we’d go there. It was pretty and fancy and classy in a homey kind of way. Her bathroom would always be full of nice-smelling perfumes and lotions. When I was little, I remember telling my mom that I want to have a condo like hers when I grow up. I want to have my own place, my own car, and my own business.

Twenty years later, I dropped out of college, barely had a hundred peso in savings, but I still had that fire in me. I knew deep down inside that I still wanted my childhood dream to materialize.

Three years ago, I got a call from my mom telling me that one of her friends was moving to the US and that she was selling her unit somewhere in QC. She wanted to know if I wanted to get it. (Read: BUY it, not rent it!)

At first I thought the idea was absurd because I barely had enough money in Savings so how in hell am I going to buy it. My mom said that the processing of the titles and the papers and equity would set me back around 200k. On top of that, the cost of the unit was six-digits-something thousand. Hehehe.

What the fuck? I don’t even have 30 grand in my account. So how in the world would I be able to come up with 200k for starters? Since the seller was a friend of my mom’s, she has given me a year to try and save up for it. If not, then they will offer it to someone else.

I knew that I wouldn’t be able to save that much amount if I would only rely on my salary so I had to think of ways to earn money on the side. That’s when I scoured out newspapers and online ads for things that I could do during my days off from work. I figured that since I wanted to own this unit real bad, I need to do something about it.. Fast! Karir kung karir! Hahahaha!

Since makapal ang mukha ko and I have this penchant for entertaining people, I tried applying as a party host. No, not the usual hosts that you see in fast food chains. Of course, if you want to aim, you should aim big time. Hahahaha! I remember my first assignment was during the launch of a real estate somewhere in Las Pinas. Yes, kahit malayo kinarir ko sya. Hahahaha! I hosted a party for the kids and did some storytelling. The pay wasn’t big but because I was just starting out, I didn’t want to charge so high. (At least not yet anyway, hehehe).

After that stint, I hosted a party in Greenbelt. It was during this time that a lady from the audience approached me and told me she had her own party business. She wanted to get me as her host for double the price that Im currently getting. Wow, may pirata effect rin pala sa ganyan. Hahaha! Because I needed to save up, I agreed to jump ship. So she got me party bookings left and right. I would go to work Mondays thru Fridays, and then I would do my “sideline” Saturdays and Sundays. Yes, ako na! Ako na si Kuracha! Walang pahinga! :) I remember there were times when I had two parties to host in one day. So talagang karir kung karir. (Just to make it clear, I host kiddie parties, not stag parties ha! Hahahah.)

So ang ending, I saved money from my hosting sideline and I also saved some money from my salary and in the end, I was able to come up with the money needed to start with the processing, tax, equity, etc. Tapos yung actual amount ng unit I applied through Pag-Ibig. Yup, I did it on my own. Didn’t ask a single penny from my parents. Ndi naman kame mayaman noh! Hehehe.

I feel happy everytime I look back at that phase in my life because it just goes to show that if you want something so bad, nothing is impossible. You just need to work hard for it and eventually it will be yours. My unit may not be as posh as my godmother’s Makati condo, but because I’ve worked hard to get it, it will always be my little square space of heaven. *smile*

Ö Travel and see the world. (or at least 1/8 of it. Haha)
Ö Get my own unit.
Ö Learn to cook.
Ö Snag a wonderful boyfriend.

Currently working on:

Get a degree – working on it as we speak.
Save for the future – slaving for it as we speak. (hahahah!)

Dreams for the future :

Get married.
Get an MBA.
Have cute babies.
Become a teacher.
Live life.

Everything starts with a dream.

Let’s all dream! And let’s all dream BIG! Spreading positive vibes all around! :)

10 Reasons Why I Love You

There are countless reasons why I love you but here's the top ten reasons at the top of my head --

10. I connect with you in so many levels. We may have petty misunderstandings every once in awhile but I know that every fight.. every misunderstanding brings us closer together. We are wired differently that's why there are times when our personalities clash but what's important is that at the end of the day, we respect each other's differences and we arrive at compromises to make the relationship work.

9. You love me for who and what I am. I don't love myself sometimes (haha), but you, you never fail to see me beyond my flaws and imperfections. I can be weird on most days.. I can be a tough nut to crack sometimes but these shortcomings of mine doesn't bother you at all. You encourage me to do wonderful things because you believe in me and the goodness of my heart.

8. You are my human Kleenex. Hahaha! You play alot of roles in my life but this has got to be one of the best. I can laugh with you, laugh at you and at the same time I can cry on you. It's nice to have someone who you can tell not only the good chapters of your life, but also the sad, disappointing ones without fear of being judged. Thank you for loving a crybaby like me. :)

7. I love you because you smell good and you always wear nice, clean shoes. Haha! And you look super cute when you're wearing shorts.

6. You are dangerously charming. You have this certain look, this certain appeal that girls and gays alike find attractive. Hahaha.  And I'm glad that you are mine. I love it!

5. You are the sweetest! I'm sure you don't think of yourself that way but that's how I see you. You do things for me that no one else has ever done before. You make me feel important and special and I truly love and thank you for that.

4. We can be goofy and silly together. Despite the age difference, we think and act alike on most days! Haha! Being around you is never a bore. Life's complicated as it is so it's nice to have someone like you to help balance things out. We have the best times together. Regardless of where we are, we find ways to have fun. I always look forward to days when we're together.

3. You are a devil in the kitchen! They say that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, hmmm, i think the same holds true for me. Hehe. You had me with your adobo and pork steak and your orgasmic potato crisps! :) And your tuna sandwich too! I really appreciate that you exert time and effort to make me yummy dishes every once in awhile.

2. You have a genuinely good heart. You are caring and kind and wonderful and super hot too! Haha. And I still can't believe how lucky I am to have you in my life. Thank God for technology! LOL.

1. You help me become a better person. That's the biggest reason why I love you so much. Remember that one time when I was thinking of doing something illegal (hahaha) and you told me not to do it. I am not the type who consults people when it comes to big decisions in my life, but when you came, I felt like I wanted to share everything with you. I value your opinion so much because I know that you only want what's best for me. You know how much I'm bent in finishing school and I appreciate the fact that you are very supportive of my studies. Yung pagtulong sa assignments, yung pag hatid-sundo, these are the little things that I really value because it shows just how much you care for me.

I love you and all the little things that you do. :)
