Walang Labada si Inday

I've been praying for a quiet and relaxing weekend for quite sometime now but rest has become very elusive. School, work and back to back hosting rakets have eaten so much of my weekends. But today, God has finally given me a free dayyyyyy!!!!!! Yeheyyyyyyyyy! One whole day where I can just stay home, wear my ratty pambahay and just stay in bed.

I started my day early because I'm so excited to do nothing for one whole day! Hahahahaha! I had dumplings, lumpia and rice for breakfast. IN BED! While alternately watching recent episodes of Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, Modern Family and BBC docus. 

A friend called me earlier today asking if I want to go out but I declined because free days like this are so hard to come by so I have to make it worth while. Hehehehhehehe! I. WILL. JUST. STAY. IN. BED. THE. WHOLE. DAY. Ang saya sabihin paulit ulit. Hahahahahaha!

I bought a whole roll of cake, lots of chips and cookies and I'm planning to finish them all IN BED. Hehehe! Ang sarap ulit-ulitin pramis. :) While most of my friends long for a weekend at the beach, or out in the malls, ako satisfied nako to be given one whole day to just stay in and do whatever! Life's simple pleasures. =)

I have a birthday party to host tomorrow at the Fort so i'll make the most out of my free day today! Yeyyyy!

I hope you guys get a dose of relaxation as well! Mwah! Have to cut this short because MY BED IS WAITING FOR ME! Yehey! Hahahahahaha.

Kwentong Barbero

When I get extremely sad and frustrated, the first thing I want to do is go to the salon and get a haircut.  Maybe because it's my way of (figuratively) cutting the bad omen that's happening in my life. There were a few times where I had my hair cut just for the sake of.  But most of the time, it was because I was going through a bad phase and I felt like I wanted to cut the bad streak.

I had my hair chopped off last year. I was going through some shitty times and I want to start anew.  So what better way to do it than to start with a new look, right?

So here I was Christmas of last year with my short hair.  To me, a haircut is more than just a haircut.  It is my way of cutting ties with the bad things that's holding me down.  It is my way of disconnecting.  It is my way of starting anew.  Of seeing things in a different light.  It is my way of starting fresh.

I learned to focus on the things that truly matter. I reconnected with people who really care. I focused on my work. I focused on my family.  And everything feels lighter and better now.

I was brushing my hair in front of the mirror the other day and it just dawned on me how long my hair is now compared to what it was 9 months ago.  I feel blessed that life hasn't given me reasons to cut my hair anew. Hehehe.

Pagoda

I took a day off from work yesterday.  Ran a few errands and then spent the afternoon bonding with my parents. Did a bit of shopping for my mom too. Grabe, ang mahal ng shoes nya. Parang ndi muna ko kakaen ng 4 months. Hahahaha. Pero okay lang, priceless naman yung saya nya. :)

And then I spent the evening bonding with a friend.  We had a good massage. Sarap! I slept during the rub-down and when I woke up, I felt rejuvenated. Yey!

After the massage, my friend and I had dinner somewhere in Quezon City. I was wearing blue maong shorts and a blue shirt yesterday and to my surprise, the waitresses in the restaurant were also wearing the same thing. HAHAHAHAHA!

Kalurks.

I BELIEVE!

I believe in miracles! 

And when I say miracles, I'm not referring to the life-changing, look-ma-i-can-walk-now or WTF-i-dont-have-cancer-anymore-allelujah kind! Hehehehe. I believe in small, everyday miracles that happen to each of us.

Sometimes we refer to it as luck.

Sometimes we call it right timing.

I choose to believe that a miracle happened (to me) today.

I'm going through a very interesting phase.  I'm in the process of growing and learning and reinventing. I'm trying to carve out my niche. So anyway, today's a very big day for me.

And just when I thought that I was already kicking-ass, something happened! Something stupid happened. And it was all my fault!!!!!!

I have been trusted to take that one big shot and I missed!

Parang gusto ko sampalin yung sarili ko kase ang tanga ko! *major face-palm moment*

I prayed. And in my prayer, I told Him "Lord, I just want you to know na gustong-gusto ko tong something na to. Kung para po sya saken, please give it to me. Kung hindi naman, I would understand."

Syempre sinabe ko talaga sa kanya na gustong-gusto ko talaga yun para ma-pressure sya! Hahahaha! Joke lang Lord. :)

I was already half-accepting a negative turn-out. I was already thinking of buying a big bottle of Red Horse and ten packs of Boy Bawang! Hahahahaha! Or if they don't have beers in stock, bibili nalang ako ng blade at kalamansi! Hahahahahahaha!

I just received a good news awhile ago.

Mukhang natuwa naman sila sa katangahan ko. :) HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! In other words, I'm off to my next adventure.

And it's going to happen this Monday. It's really something major and I'm glad that they're giving me this weekend to prepare.

So this weekend, goodbye muna ang lakwatsa! Goodbye muna ang DVD marathon! Goodbye muna ang kaartehan! Goodbye muna ang lahat-lahat! Kelangan kong mag-aral ng mabuti at mag-focus.

I couldn't afford to make another mistake this Monday. This is a make-or-break.

Pray for me ha? :) Para lalong ma-pressure si Lord, hahahahaha!

You Got a Friend

Today I've been witness to how cruel love can be. How it drives people to become manipulative and self-serving. Today I've seen how love can break hearts.

Today, God gave me the opportunity to become a good friend to someone. To be a shoulder to cry on. To be able to talk about love, pain, and moving on. 

Today, I was given the opportunity to reverse the role. To be the comforter. To be the advise-giver. To appease and assure that everything will work out just fine.

Today, God gave me the opportunity to pay it forward. He gave me this opportunity to return back the favor for all of the moving and heart-warming gestures that have been extended to me when I was down and out.

You will find your way out of this rough patch, my friend.

I should know. Been there, done that.

Whhooopppeee!

My long weekend starts today. Yehey! My boss lent me two of her paperback novels so I’m thinking of spending my entire weekend at home just curled up in bed in my ratty pambahay and all – reading and eating and napping and thinking of crazy things to do in-between. But a part of me also wants to go out and do something fun. There’s this interesting restaurant that I’ve always wanted to try but never really had the chance to do so.  This weekend might be the best time to go.  

Bahala na.

On a different note, I get bothered when I watch Dengue infomercials on TV.  The number of Dengue cases is rising at a very alarming rate. Putting insect-repellant lotion used to be a part of my bedtime ritual but I stopped using it eventually mainly because I find the texture of the lotion too thick and too sticky for my liking.  But because I’m paranoid, I’m back to using it everyday.  I was in the grocery the other day and I noticed that apart from insect-repellant lotions and patches, they now have it in bracelet form! How ingenious! I love it! I wanted to get one for myself but the bracelets are for kids.  Pang-bata yung mga designs and I would look silly if I ever decide to wear one.  Do you know where I can buy wristbands or bracelets for adults? Help?

Friends for Keeps

I don't believe in long-distance romantic relationships but I believe in long-distance friendships.  My two best girlfriends are working overseas but distance never got in the way of our friendship.

We keep in touch regularly. We update each other either thru email, or skype or YM. We actually have more serious and intimate conversations thru the internet than in real life. LOL. Because when we're all physically together, we'd do nothing but laugh and goof around. We act like retards all the time.

When schedules and budgets permit, we plan short vacays to re-connect.

We met in college when we were still studying in the Royal and Pontifical university in the flood capital of the U-Belt. (LOL)

We were always groupmates pag may activity or project sa school. Or we'd be study buddies come Midterms or Finals. We even had this play before in the AB auditorium when they were all laughing at me because I portrayed the role of a witch. Hahaha! (hanapen nyo nalang sa picture)

We act like silly monkeys when we are together. No matter how beautiful the scenery, we always find ways to ruin the picture. LOL. Most of our pictures aren't Facebook-friendly because yung iba nakakahiya na talaga. Hehehehehe.

I had gone through an emotional dilemma December of last year and I have never felt so loved and cared for because these two nutties were there for me. Thank God for Skype. We'd Skype each other every-freaking-day. They would always call me and check on me even though we were miles and timezones apart.

We're all different now from the girls that we were back in college but we've come to love each other's quirks and differences. Our lives have moved in different directions but the bond that we have still remains. I'm a bit sad that I can't join them this month when they fly off to Europe. Sometimes, work gets in the way of friendship pero ganun talaga. Hehehe.

Our last email exchange went like this --

Friend 1 : Sumama ka na kase! Wag ka nang maarte!

K : Gusto ko! Kaso I can't be gone for 2 weeks straight. Baka pagbalik ko wala nakong trabaho.

Friend 2 : Hindi ba talaga pwedeng paki-usapan boss mo?

K : Ndi talaga eh. =(

Friend 1 : Hmp. Sige na nga, next time sumama ka na ha!

K : Of course!

Friend 2 : Okay sige, ano nalang pasalubong gusto mo from Europe?

K : Poging Briton pwede?

Friend 1 and Friend 2 : BWAHAHAHAHAH! Hayup ka! Ndi naman pwede i-Fedex yun.

Blessed

I have been sporting this happy glow lately. There’s this HUGE baggage that I finally let go and I have never felt so peaceful.  I sleep better.  I smile more.  I am more appreciative of things around me – big and small.  Blessings keep on coming, I feel so un-worthy but at the same time I feel really grateful.

Of Blacks and Self-Timers...

I don't shop often. But when I do, I usually buy clothes in vibrant shades. The colorful, the better.  Sometimes I think I look like a walking crayola, hahaha! Colors make me happy. My clothes are a reflection of who I am - playful, moody, full of life.  When I feel down, I wear my red pumps and I splash the reddest shade of red on my lips. It's my usual pick-me-up.  When I feel girly, I wear pink.  When I am feeling cheerful, I wear yellow pants. Hehe!

I was rummaging through my cabinet (closet pag mayaman, pag mahirap cabinet ang tawag, haha!)  today because I was looking for an old dress I havent worn for quite sometime and I noticed that there have been a few pieces of clothing that I havent taken much attention. Maybe because I just don't feel like wearing them at the time I bought them. Or maybe because they were in black. Period.

I tried them on to see if I'd feel any different. And you know what, I feel like black's my long-lost pal! It's like black and I have met somewhere before and we have recently been re-acquainted. Hehe. I still feel like I'm the vibrant, cheerful me. But with a little more pizzazz and sophistication. (Sophistication daw oh! LOL)

At dahil dyan, ilalabas ko na lahat ng mga black kong damet at sila ay gagawen kong pambahay. LOL! My tastes in everything evolve through time. My taste in style, in men (insert BIG question mark), in major life-decisions have developed as I grew older. Have they become better? Or have they become worse? Hahaha, that's the big question.

Puss in Boots

**Signs that I’m about to get my period –

1. Crying for no reason at all. I cried yesterday, but those were happy tears. I’m in a good, peaceful state now and I’m happy that I’ve finally gotten my groove back.

2. Reading erotica like there’s no tomorrow. Hehehe. I will explain no further.

3. Cramps. =(

4. Insatiable craving for chocolate!!!! I’ve been eating Twix and Raisinets like crazy! Somebody stop meeeeee!

On a sidenote, I bought a cool pair of rocker-chick shoes last weekend and I decided to wear it to work yesterday (kahit hindi naman sya bagay na pang opisina) to give it enough mileage. Hahaha! Ngayon ko lang narealize na lahat talaga ng first-time MASAKIT! Nyetang yan, ang sakit ng paa ko yesterday pero of course tiniis ko. Ganun talaga minsan, pag walang hirap, walang sarap. Tiis-ganda talaga dapat. Hehehe!

Midnight Snack

I'm a junkfood junkie. In other words, I'm a walking MSG. Haha! I eat chips while I'm surfing the net. Reading a book is more fun when I've a bag of chips within reach. When I feel sleepy at work, I eat chips to keep me awake (best paired with ice-cold Coke or iced tea).

Junkfood is man's greatest creation next to hair-straightening iron and ribbed condoms! Hahaha!

But I know that eating too much junk is harmful to my kidney (or is it liver)? Basta, its bad for the health. So lately, I'm trying my best to cut down on chichirya. Instead of eating potato chips, I eat real potatoes. I experimented in the kitchen recently and I discovered this yummy junkfood alternative.

Buy baby potatoes and young corn and fry them in butter. I really don't know if 'fry' is really the right term for it. Basta ipagulong gulong nyo lang sa pan na may butter until maluto. Then put curry powder, salt, rosemary and basil leaves. Don't overcook it because it tastes better if the veggies are only 3/4 cooked. It's so easy to make. If you want to go healthy all the way, replace the butter with olive oil.

Happy Easter!!!

I didn't have work last Friday. Since it was a Good Friday, malls weren't open that day. Most bars and restaurants were also closed. So what I did was, I went to Bonifacio HighStreet to do the Station of the Cross.

I remember when I was a kid, my family used to troop to Grotto. We would squeeze ourselves in the sea of people who were also there for the same reason. Just lining up to get inside the pilgrimage site's already a penance in itself! Ang init, grabe!

It's a good thing that even in this modern times, there are still alot of people who observe tradition. The Stations of the Cross were strategically installed in the middle of HighStreet, right smack where all the restos and coffeeshops are located. The installations in every station are nicely done. There are activities that you can do in each station that will help you reflect about your life and your faith.

I will only post pictures of my favorite Stations because I do not want to overload you with pictures, hehe.

 This is the first installation. It's a frame composed of broken glass.

The message it wants to convey? "As you take a hard look at the shattered reflection, remember that even in your brokenness Jesus sees how beautiful you really are."

My next favorite station was this station where I got to experience what it's like to carry a wooden cross. I initially thought that they were just faux cross made of cardboard or something light. But I was wrong!

Mabigat talaga sya! Hehehe! Napasubo ako. LOL :)

And last but not the least, there's this Station where people were asked to write down prayers for themselves. After doing so, they need to put in inside the fishbowl. The catch is, after you write down your own prayer, you're asked to pick someone else's prayer in the fishbowl and pray for that person.

And here's what I got from the fishbowl. Medyo na-touch ako sa prayer nya for himself/herself --

I realized that I'm very lucky because the only major problem that I fuss about is my lovelife (hahaha! Babaw diba?). Unlike this person, na parang ang dame-dame nyang problema sa buhay =( I said a silent prayer for him/her and hoped that in my own little way, I've helped lighten his/her load.

Towards the end of the exhibit, you will be asked to think of a person who made the most impact in your life and you will be asked to write down a prayer for that person/s.

At the end of the day, it does not matter where we spend Holy Week - be it at the beach, in your boyfriend's province or at home. It's all about reconnecting with our faith and believing that we are all brought into this world for a purpose.

Murang Gloria!

I define my life in the same sense that I define the things that make me happy. I always strive to have a positive outlook about everything even when it seems that there isn’t anything positive about it anymore.


I was having a rough day a couple of weeks ago so I decided to hit the mall. And of course, nothing can catch my attention more than a big red sign on the department store that screams the word “SALE”. Wooopppeeee!!!! It’s like sipping an iced-cold can of Coca-cola after roughing it out in the gym... Or seeing a half-naked Gerard Butler waiting for me in my bedroom! Double wooopppeeee! (You don’t know who he is? Click here)... Ika-pitong Gloria diba? Haha!

I went in to check out the goodies and to my delight, I saw a nice pair of pants. The downside was that it’s one size smaller than what I usually wear and when I asked the saleslady if they have it in my size, wala na daw! BUMMER!

I bought it anyway eventhough it’s a little bit tight in the crotch area. At P99, I wouldn’t mind sporting a bit of a cameltoe! Hahahahahaha!

So there you have it, ladies and gents, that’s my obligatory Holy Week post. LOL! Kala mo profound no? Hehehe! But seriously, what I’m trying to drive at is that happiness doesn’t need to be expensive.

To most parents, happiness means seeing the smile on their children’s faces. To most bachelors I know (and some married men too!), happiness is a few thousand bucks for 3hours of pleasure. Hahaha! But for me, I find joy in the simplest of things.

In a world full of catastrophes and rising price in gas and everything else, you got to find ways on how to be happy. Life is beautiful!

Happy New Year!

2010 has been a good year for me. I was able to go out of the country thrice this year. I was able to find balance between work and school. I was able to enjoy my time with my family and friends.  I was able to find love (or so I thought).  I learned to love myself more.

I have a lot of realizations and lessons learned this year. And I will be bringing these lessons with me in 2011.

I am grateful to God, to my loved-ones, to my friends, to you. Thank you everyone for being a part of my 2010! :)

I always spend New Year's eve at my parents' place but this year is different because I'm spending it alone in my unit. My original plan was to just sleep and rest and let the holiday go by but I figured, life is too short to be "KJ"! Hehehe.

So what did I prepare for my New Year's Eve meal? Hmmmm... well, I have Pasta Paella, Seafood Pizza, Cheese & Crackers, Cake, Fish & Chips and milk! Yeheyyyyyyy! It's a party for one and I'm loving it! Hahahaha.

I hope everyone's having a fabulous time this New Year whether you're spending it alone or with your loved-ones!

Tired.

I had a very busy yet productive week at work. It's a nice way to start the month as I'm within quota. Yehey!

Today, I went to school at 7:30am. 1st day of the 2nd semester. Most professors don't go to class on the first day but I was lucky enough that all my teachers were present earlier. At least ndi sayang yung pagpunta ko! Hehehe.

After school, I rushed off to Makati to host a birthday-slash-slumber party. The kids were all game so it was a very fun afternoon. The party ended around 7pm. I was sooo tired, my legs were a bit sore from standing up the whole afternoon, my head hurts and the only thing I was looking forward to was to go home and sleep and cuddle. But of course, I dont feel like complaining at all because I feel blessed that I have work, school and occasional rakets like this to keep me busy. 

You know what would really complete my day? Jacuzzi + massage.

 

Oh well. Im super spent to do anything! I just wana relax, sleep and cuddle!!!!!!

Mo' Money, Mo' Problems

I went to Singapore last year with my college buddies and we visited some of the 'touristy' places in the area. One of which was the Fountain of Wealth in Suntec City.

The Fountain of Wealth (Chinese: 财富之泉) is listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. It is located in one of Singapore's largest shopping malls, Suntec City.


During certain periods of the day, the fountain is turned off and visitors are invited to walk around a mini fountain at the centre of the fountain's base for good luck. At night, the fountain is the setting for laser performances, as well as "live" song and laser message dedications between 8pm to 9pm daily. It is situated in such a way the fountain is the hub of the shopping mall. (source: wikipedia)

Yumaman na kaya yung porener na nasa likod ko?

Once you go near the fountain, you would see a small sign that would tell you what you need to do: Rumor has it that you need to go around the fountain three times with your hand touching the water for goodluck. I can't remember if you need to go clockwise or counter clockwise pero may ganung chorvaloo dun. Hehehe.

Parang may sirang tubo lang sa NAWASA noh? Hehehe

Dahil wala namang mawawala saken and I was there already, I decided to give it a try. I went around the fountain three times, just like what the sign said. It was noontime when we got to the place so you can just imagine how hot it was during that time. It was a good thing that the water from the fountain was cold.

It has already been a year since that day in the fountain. Did I become rich? Nope. Naging super duper wealthy ba ko after that incident? Hell no! But did I regret doing it? Of course not. If there's one thing that I learned from that experience is that it's taught me to hope. To hope for wonderful things to come. It may not be in the form of wealth, but it will be in the form of something that I will value and cherish. Health maybe. Or friends. Or in my case, love? (Hahaha, mushy na naman. LOL!)

People need to have a considerable (read: relative) amount of wealth to enjoy life. That is a fuck fact. But we shouldn't aim to have too much because we might end up neglecting all of the other things that make life worth-living. So what makes MY life worth-living? Hmmmmm... Let me count the ways:

1. The support of my friends. I am not blessed with a perfect life, that's why I am so thankful to my crazy yet caring friends for making my life bearable.

2. When my dad gives me the Sunday newspaper. That's his way of showing affection to me. He knows how much I love reading the news (especially the entertainment section, haha) that's why he never fails to buy newspaper on Sundays especially when he knows I'd pay them a visit. And his warm, genuine smile everytime I'd sleep in their bed. Priceless.

3. A kiss and an 'i love you' from my favorite niece. I know that I shouldn't play favorites but she's really the one closest to me! Hehe. She's the youngest amongst all my pamangkins and I love it when she hugs me and kisses me everytime I visit her - it makes me forget about my problems, even just for a day. :)

4. My mom's sermons about life and love. We recently had a talk about my life and she's given me good, practical advise about certain things. I am so thankful to have a mom as smart and as tough as her.

5. Quality time with my **SS. He cares for me like no one else does. The way he smiles at me, the way he reaches for my hand, the way he takes care of me. Hayyyyy. :-) I'll stop na before I make you guys puke because of my mushiness. Hahaha!

Nestlé is a globally recognized brand and has never failed to continue championing the advocacy of nutrition, health and wellness over the last 144 years.  From infant milk to healthcare nutrition to performance nutrition - you name it, they have it! The I CHOOSE WELLNESS EXPO is a celebration for people from all age groups and their responsibility to choose wellness in their lifestyle decisions.

The Event

The expo runs from July 3 and 4. I went there on the first day and man, the place was packed to the brim! It was a good thing that the event was well-organized and that people were let in by batches. Entrance was free and it was nice to see people from all walks of life attending the event. 

The Booths

Did I tell you that I loooove freebies? OMG, I think I just had a freebie-overload that day. Hahaha! Almost all the major brands of Nestlé Philippines participated in the event. 

They have games for kids.

 Not to be outdone, they also have activities lined up for the kids-at-heart!

 I had a fun time watching this old lady dance to the hula! Crazeeee!
