Christmas 2011

Our family do not spend Christmas on the 25th.  My dad's birthday is on the 26th so it has been a family tradition to do a double-celebration every December 26th. Practical diba? :) Hehehe.  So last Christmas eve, I was just at home, munching on nothing but Kitkat and Peanut butter.  Sweet way to welcome Christmas right?

Here are some pictures from our family bonding during our post-Christmas-slash-Dad's-birthday-celebration.

It's really a good feeling to be with family on the most joyous occasion of the year!  Same feeling I get when I sip a cup of hot Swiss Miss (with lots of marsh mallows) on a rainy day.  Pure LOVE.

So, how was your Christmas? :) Did you get a gift from Santa? :p

So this is how a "Barker" feels like....

What is a "Barker"?

Here's what Wikipedia has to say ---
barker is a person who attempts to attract patrons to entertainment events, such as a circus or funfair, by exhorting passing public,[1] describing attractions of show and emphasizing variety, novelty, beauty, or some other feature believed to incite listeners to attend entertainment.
The pinoy-version of a "Barker" is one who stations himself near where the public utility vehicles are (ie jeepneys and buses) and calls the attention of passengers. Yung mga tipong sisigaw ng "Kyaaaaaaaaaaappppooooooooooooo" or "Kuuubbbbaaaawwww" or "Onting usog dyan, sampu-an yan!" Ganyan. Hehe.

So what does that have to do with me? Pinasok ko na rin ba ang pagbabarker? HAHAHAHAHA! Well, not really.... but I now understand how a barker feels like after a longggggggg day of shouting and yelling and vocal chords-stretching. Haha.

Read on.

I hosted a party at the Fort earlier this afternoon.  The party was at 3pm but I was there an hour early because I need to prepare all the stuff that I need to use.

It was a Hello Kitty-themed party but I didn't have anything pink in my closet and I cannot grow whiskers overnight (LOL) so I opted to wear something lace-y and girly.

Everything was alright except for the sound system.  The music was sucky and the microphone was not functioning!!!!!!!!! One of my pet-peeves as a host is when I am not given a good sound system.  It's easier to get your message across when you're clearly heard by the crowd, especially when majority of the crowd's composed of 6-years-old kids with short attention spans. Hahahahaha!

But of course the show must go on. There are people who were 'born with a silver spoon', and there are those who were 'born with a built-in microphone'.  Fortunately (or unfortunately? haha), I belong to the latter.

Parang lahat ng litid ko lumabas this afternoon! Hahahahaha! I had to keep my voice loud and clear and fun to get everyone's attention. Kalowka. But it was still an awesome party despite the slight technical booboos! The kids and adults alike had so much fun especially when I asked them to play musical chairs! Hahaha.

But seriously, it was a bit stressful to shout for a couple of hours straight.  Now I totally get how barkers feel like after a long day of work... Or wives who scream endlessly at their philandering husbands.... Or football fans who cheer and yell for their team during Super Bowl... Or bosses who scream because they've been given the wrong report... LOL! Nakakapagod sumigaw, pramis. Hehe.

I'm wishing you all a very serene, yell-free Sunday! :) Hehehe!

Lines That Make Me "KILIG"

1. "The time now is 12NN. Please synchronize your clock. Your delivery will arrive in 30 to 40 minutes."

I know that I am not getting any younger and I would probably regret my eating habits a couple of years from now but I really cannot resist NOT eating fastfood. Especially since I live alone and most of the time I cannot muster enough strength after work to cook something healthy and edible. While most people have their parents or their loved-ones on speed dial, number 1 on my list is McDonalds, Jollibee, Chowking and KFC (not exactly in that order). I get this warm fuzzy feeling everytime I hear the fastfood representative say that my order will arrive in 30minutes. I feel as if I'm 4-years old once again and I'm waiting for Santa Claus to come by our house on Christmas Eve. Yes, I am a fastfood junkie. (If there are kids reading my blog - WAG NYO AKONG TULARAN.)

2. "I love you." Of course I get butterflies in my stomach everytime I hear this line especially if it's from someone that I fancy. To quote my friends ~ "O, water-water ka na naman!" Hahahaha! But of course, there are different levels of LOVE. I also get kilig everytime I hear my parents, my siblings and my pamangkins utter these words to me. I live in a very loving family and we are used to saying "I love you's" to each other. No matter how many times I hear them say it, it still melts my heart. :)

3. "Double-pay tayo bukas."

Yes, this line never fails to make me feel giddy inside-n-out. It has the same effect as Patrick Dempsey getting on one knee and asking me to marry him. HAHAHAAH! Of course I slave myself to work everyday and knowing that I'm getting paid double for a day's work amps up the kilig-ness factor! :)

4. "Sale sa SM!"

I am a cheapskate. You must all know that by now. I get skittish everytime I see the SALE sign in shopping malls. I don't shop that much but on the rare occasions that I do, I always try to get them when they are on SALE. Hahaha! Hello, times are hard noh! LOL!

How about you, what makes you KILIG? I want to know. =)

Tongue Twister!

I have a real job but because times are hard, I do 'rakets' on the side. I host birthday parties for kids. I love kids. I love it when I see them smile. And knowing that I made them smile makes me happy even more. I hosted a party in Ayala Alabang last December and the kids were super cute. Look at them --

May blonde, may brunette, may asian. Para silang United Nations. Hahaha! If you look closely, all of them are barefoot because I asked them to remove their shoes/slippers.

I had a super funny moment while I was at the party. The party started around 2pm and I was there an hour before. The guests started to arrive around 1:30pm and they were a mix of Europeans, Asians, Spanish and Americans. There was this one kid who looked like he was of Spanish descent, about 5 or 6 years old ata sya. And very gwapo! At his age, he was wearing a cute longsleeves and khaki pants! Thinking that all of them are foreigners, I started talking in Tagalog para ndi nila ko maintindihan. So I said :

And then the dad said, "Uy I heard that! Ikaw ha!". O-M-G. Gusto ko lamunin ng lupa right that very moment. The dad understood everything I said! Haha! Here's a photo of the cute kid --

Pogi diba? :) I told you! And then last Sunday, I hosted a wedding reception in the Butterfly Pavilion in Rizal Park. It was my first time to host a wedding and I wasn't really nervous or anything but everytime I'd tell people to "SIT BACK AND RELAX", what comes out instead is "SIT BAX AND RELACK". Bwahahahahaha! Epic fail! And I think I said that three times pa! Funnyyyyyyy! I think I need to practice my tongue. LOL!

"Sit Bax and Relack!"

And last but not the least, I hosted a party in Greenbelt two weeks ago and the client told me to come in a princess attire because it was a Princess-themed party.

Fortunately, I didnt have any party booboos that day. Hehehe! Thank goodness!

So that's what I have been very busy with the past few weeks. Ikaw, what have you been up to? :)

Weekend Tales: My Sashimi Experience

I had a super fun Saturday with good friends. I drank a lot of booze that night so I had a major hang-over the following day - splitting head-ache and an upset stomach. Ugh. Bad combo!

I was just planning to stay home and rest the whole Sunday but a friend asked me out for dinner. I wasn't really in the mood to go out but my friend was so persistent that I eventually gave in. I wasn't in the mood to dress up too so I just went out in shorts and sando. Haha, parang pupunta lang sa kanto. LOL.

I thought we were just going somewhere near my place but my friend decided to bring me to Ayala Triangle Gardens since I've been raving about how much I wanted to see the lights and sound show. Had I known that we were going to Makati, I would've dressed to the nines. Hahahah, arte lang! Anyway, we arrived there by 9pm and there were alot of people in the area. We didn't catch the show because it's only from 6 to 8 in the evening. Bummer! I was in the mood to eat chicken rice in Wee Nam Kee that night but the restaurant was packed! As in super dame ng taoBlockbuster sa pila! Hehe.  Because I was already super hungry and I didn't want to wait in line, we just decided to eat in Omakase.

I really don't like eating anything raw. Well, except for *toot toot*.... Hahahahahah! I eat Kinilaw but I don't think I can consider it as raw since the fish has already been cooked in vinegar. So anyway, my friend dared me to eat sashimi and I was his willing victim that night. Hehe. He took pictures para daw I have memories of my first Sashimi experience. LOL!

Ewwwww hilaw!

I ordered Coke and Tamago soup too so that I can have something to wash down the gooey after-taste of the sashimi. :) Madaya ako e! Hehehe.

And now for the main part... Kikoman, check. Wasabi, check. Calamansi, check. My friend kept assuring me that the fish looked fresh so there's nothing to be yucky about.
Did I like it? Uhmmmmm, well.... you know the saying right - "A picture paints a thousand words." Hehehehe!

I can't remember the names of what we ordered for dinner. I'm not cut out to live the sosyal life. Syet. Hahahaha! Basta dinner consisted of salmon and chicken. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Hehe.

After dinner, I wanted to take pictures of the lights around the triangle but by the time we got out of the resto, all the lights were out already! Waaaaaaaaaa! Napakamalas ko naman talaga. They turn off the lights by 10pm, said the guards. Oh well, will just come back there next time.

Since we still didn't want to leave, we just goofed around the place. My friend gave me another dare. He dared me to strut a super-jologs pose. Opkors I was game for it. Pose lang pala e. :)

After that, we went to Starbucks in Greenbelt to people-watch while drinking coffee.

Tapos nung nandun kame, there was this woman who made a scene because she said that one of the guards daw in Starbucks was being rude to her. As in she was screaming like crazy. Sayang I didn't capture it. It's in times like this when I wish I had a Flip Mino. Hahahaha! So I can capture everything in HD.

Babae : Napakabastos mo! Bakit sino ka ba? Guard ka lang dito ah!
Guard : no comment.
Babae : Lagi ako nagpupunta dito tapos lagi moko ginaganyan.

Yehey! Ang saya :) Sayang talaga wala akong dalang video recorder. Hehehehehe!

How'd your weekend go? :)

FACT YOU! (Part Deux)

(Part 1 can be found here --> hit me!)

15 Random Facts About Me:

1. I cry everytime I poo. Hahahahahah! Yes I do, seriously. I don't kow if there's a medical explanation for that. Is the a-hole connected to the tear ducts? LOL!!!!

2. I talk like a man. (Refer to #1 as example) Yes. I talk about dirty, eeeky, and mostly unpure stuff. I curse like a man too. Haha! Yes I know that's bad but I can't help it. That's why I have a lot of male friends. Men easily warm up to me because I talk like them.

3. My favorite curse? "Fuckin sh!t" --  I utter these words when I get excited or anxious or pissed off or when I am hot and bothered. LOL.

4.  My ultimate dream date is to go on a picnic. Basket full of munchies, cheese and crackers, beer/wine, and banig! Yes, the works! And we'll be surrounded by all things green and flowery! I super like! I've never been out on a picnic date before. It sucks to be me. Hahahahaa.

5. When I'm running out of cash while shopping, I usually take a picture of the dress that I wasn't able to buy to serve as a reminder for me to buy it the next time around. (But yeah, majority of the time, ndi ko na sya nababalikan.. LOL!)

Like the other day, I bought a dress in the mall. When I was on my way out, I saw this dress but it was too expensive. Bakit ganun? Kung ano yung konti yung tela, yun yung mahal? Hahaha!

6. I can't live without my hair straightening iron. (and my laptop)

7. My dad only spanked me twice during my entire childhood. I can't remember why he spanked me the first time, but the last time he did was because I told my eldest brother "Mamatay Ka Na!". Ayun, napalo ako! Ouchie! Haha)

8. Contrary to the above, I am close to my brother and sisters. No choice eh! Hahahahaha! I share the juicy secrets of my life to my sisters. My brother? He's the family's biggest goofball. We have loads of fun when we are together.

"The Retards"

Hahahahahahaha!

10. My favorite comfort food - isaw, ox brain, fishballs, McDo cheeseburger, eggpie, Marty's! Dame no? =)

11. I don't look the part but I was once a good dancer (PAST TENSE). Hahahaha! I was a member of a dancegroup back in Elementary and we joined a contest. Of course we won first place. Tugtog namen - "Foolish Heart"! Hahahah. Major Ewwwwwww :)

12. I still dance until now. But mostly when no one's watching.

Sideline ko pag weekend - Poledancing. Hahahahaha!

13. I've never been attracted to men with abs

...because.....

14. Men with abs don't find me attractive. (Hahahahahaha, the feeling is mutual pala. LOL!)

15. My favorite song is "Lovely Day" and "Moonriver".

Hahahaha! At least sa alak at ndi sa pinagbabawal na gamot. Opkors, you have to choose the lesser evil.

Sa kahit anumang bagay, beer man ito o ndi, everything should be taken/done in moderation. Dahil October ngayon, at Oktoberfest na, tayong lahat ay magdiwang at uminom ng beer all month long! Hahaha!

Ano ayos ba? Parang lasing lang no? Hahahaha! For the list of Oktoberfest festivities, please go to sanmiguelbeer.com.ph.

Always remember, DRINK MODERATELY!

Shanghai, I Shall Return!

If you have been following my blog, you'd recall that I went to China a couple of months back. I haven't posted pics from my China trip, mainly because I have been busy with alot of stuff plus I was too lazy to organize the pictures.

So anyway, I got some free time today so I'll share with you snaps from our Shanghai leg. To follow na yung iba.

It was super hot that time so I had to wear a cardigan or else iitim na ng todo yung arms ko! LOL!

Spot the phallic symbol! Hahaha!

Shanghai's very cosmopolitan. Look at those buildings. Nice noh?

Stinky tofu, yay! HaHaHaHa!

Ndi ko alam bat kame nagpicturan dito. Wala namang interesting background! :)

We went to the Shanghai World Expo 2010

1st booth that we visited - Philippines! Pinoy pride baby! =)

Nope, he's not a wrestler (LOL). One of the Haka performers from New Zealand

Hope everyone's having a good week! Will show you the rest of the pics as soon as I organize them.

Let's talk about me...

Of course this is my personal blog so whether you like it or not, most of the posts here are about :

a) me
b) me
c) and me

Get it? Okay good.

Now, let's move on and talk about me. LOL!

I took singing lessons when I was a kid. It was the summer of 1995 and my parents were thinking of ways to keep me busy during that schoolbreak. They enrolled me in a summer singing workshop but unfortunately, it didn't do me any good. I still sound like a dying moose everytime I sing. Hehehe!

But this doesn't deter me from singing. I love videokes and karaokes! (And no, I don't like singing to the tune of "My Way", sorry to disappoint you). My all time favorite videoke song is CRAZY FOR YOU. I don't know what magic that song does to my voice, but when I sing it, I sound like an angel from heaven! BWAHAHAHAHA!

Next fave, TOTAL ECLIPSE OF THE HEARTTTTTT! Look at the below image. Cute noh?

What's your favorite videoke song?

Videoke tayo!!!!! :)

Things That Make Me Happppyyyyy

1. Being with my family makes me happy. I love hanging out with my sibs and their kids. There's no greater feeling than playing with my nieces and nephews and teasing them to the point when they're almost crying. I love it! Hehehehe!

2. I don't have a landline at home since I don't see any use for it.  I usually stay at work longer than I should  so it's more convenient for friends and family to reach me thru my mobile phone. On days when I get hungry, I just order through McDonald's online.Their fast and efficient system makes me happy.

3. Clean public restrooms make me happy. I'm not finicky but who would want to sit in a dirty, soiled toilet seat, right?

 4. Colorful things make me happy! I love colorssssss! I can not live in a black and white world! I like 'em loud and vibrant - from clothes to shoes to flowers. I love, love, love them in different colors! :)

If you think these are super colorful.. boy, you haven't seen my unit yet! LOL!

My unit's a mad house! I have orange walls with yellow accent, my cabinets are color(ed) green and my bedroom's in pink! Hehehe! It's crazy and funky - just the way I like it! Weeeeeeeeeeeeee =D

5. Blogging makes me happy. Isn't it obvious?

6. Walkalators make me happy! How I wish there's a walkator outside my unit all the way to the office. That would be heavenly!

7. Ox brain and isaw and balut make me happy! It's bad for my health I know. But what can I do? Diba nga they say, 'kung ano yung madumi, yun yung masarap?' Hahaha! [Translation: the dirtier the food, the tastier!]

8. Making small talk with people in the airport (while waiting for my flight) makes me happy.  I met this nice girl who also loves to blog. You can check out all her travel photos here

9. Being with my friends makes me happy. There's nothing like catching up with my girlfriends and swapping sappy life and love stories over margarita, beer, and shots of blowjob. Wait, did I say blowjob? =P

That's the Unpure One in the middle with 2 of my best galpals ♥ ♥ ♥ (Yup, the saying's true - Pretty girls flock together. LOL!)

10. Perfect jumpshots make me happy! I love being all silly and goofy in front of the camera and lately, me and my friends have been practicing real hard to take the perfect jumpshot. Hehe. Shallow, right? I don't care because it makes me happy =)

Super un-glamorous I know, but what the heck! I'm happy! *smile*

How about you, what makes you happy?

The Unpure Jumpshot Expert,
