Less is more? Hahaha

I am not feeling well today so I am just in bed the whole time.  And to entertain myself, I've just been downloading stuff online, playing alternately between Fruit Ninja and Text Twist, reading an e-book of Darkly Dreaming Dexter and surfing the net.  Yes, I do all these things simultaneously because I have ADHD. Hahaha! I cannot seem to focus on just one thing at any given time.

So while I was browsing the net, I saw this funny slogan and it made me laugh.  And you know what, it has a ring of truth to it.

I should know. I have small boobies. LOL!

They remember the very basic details like what clothes I was wearing or how infectious my laughter was. Most of the time, it's the sparkle in my eyes that register in their memory.

Now I know why. Hahahahahaha! :)

Anyway, since the focus is always on my eyes (because there's nothing worth seeing from the neck down, LOL!), I decided to get me some eyelash extensions.  It was a painful 1-hour process of glue-ing the lashes on my lids one by one!!!! Actually, ndi masakit yung procedure kase dinidikit lang naman yung lashes pero ang masakit is yung glue na gamit. Ang hapdddiiiii! I was crying non-stop while the procedure was going on.

After the procedure was done, I felt like I was Betty Boop (minus the boobs).  My eyelashes were so long and full, I can use it to sweep the floor! AHAHAHAHAHAHA! :)

The only downside to having eyelash extensions is that I cannot sleep on my stomach because it might ruin the form of the lashes. But other than that, I like that I always look put-together even when I do not have make-up on. Pag gising mo pa lang, parang pa-party ka na agad. LOL!

It has been over a month since I had it done and a few lashes have already fallen out.  I haven't had time the past couple of days to go back and have it re-filled. (Hahaha, parang softdrinks lang.)

Have a great start of the week everyone! :))

Kwentong Barbero

When I get extremely sad and frustrated, the first thing I want to do is go to the salon and get a haircut.  Maybe because it's my way of (figuratively) cutting the bad omen that's happening in my life. There were a few times where I had my hair cut just for the sake of.  But most of the time, it was because I was going through a bad phase and I felt like I wanted to cut the bad streak.

I had my hair chopped off last year. I was going through some shitty times and I want to start anew.  So what better way to do it than to start with a new look, right?

So here I was Christmas of last year with my short hair.  To me, a haircut is more than just a haircut.  It is my way of cutting ties with the bad things that's holding me down.  It is my way of disconnecting.  It is my way of starting anew.  Of seeing things in a different light.  It is my way of starting fresh.

I learned to focus on the things that truly matter. I reconnected with people who really care. I focused on my work. I focused on my family.  And everything feels lighter and better now.

I was brushing my hair in front of the mirror the other day and it just dawned on me how long my hair is now compared to what it was 9 months ago.  I feel blessed that life hasn't given me reasons to cut my hair anew. Hehehe.

I wish you all a happy week ahead!

Random

xx I’ve been introduced to group buying sites just recently. Thanks to my thrifty and economical friends! Yes, I know, super late na ako hehehe! (But it’s better to be late than preggers right?) So anyway, I’ve been checking their daily deals and I’ve bought a couple of vouchers here and there. I’m excited to use them soon! I love sales and discounts!!! I get off when I see the SALE sign in malls. Bwahahahahah!

xx In one of my recent posts, I mentioned about things going smoothly at work diba? I have validated that I was really doing a good job because I received an incentive today for being so kick-ass this 2nd quarter. Hehehehehe.

xx the 15th and the 30th of each month are the bloodiest days in  my work calendar because I have to do Business Reviews. It’s a good thing that I’m already done with my report. Yehey!

This is a good day. Thank you Lord. =)

How’s everyone’s day going so far?

Kisses on the cheeks,

Oh No!

My hair's not naturally straight. It's a little bit on the wavy side. If I don't use conditioner and if I don't iron my hair everyday, my mane looks like this --

Last night, when I was about to iron my hair, I noticed that the heating plates weren't generating heat! So bakit pa sya tinawag na heat plate diba? Hehehe. What a bummer! I can live without boy/s but I cannot live without my hair straightening iron!!! Totoo yan, pramissssss! I carry a big bag all the time because I always bring my hair iron wherever I go. Ayoko ng bad-hair-days!

Bwahahahah! Thank goodness naimbento ang hair iron!

Afro chiq! :)

There's this party that I'm supposed to attend tonight but because my hair iron conked out on me, I don't want to go out with a hair that can be mistaken for a broomstick! Heheheheh! So I am just relaxing at home on a rainy Saturday catching up on my reading while eating chips and chocolates! Yehey! :)

Why do my things keep breaking recently? Una, laptop ngayon hair iron. Weird. And oh by the way, I got my laptop from the service center yesterday! And the good news is that they didn't erase my files. Wooopppeeeee!

How about you, what's one (tangible) thing that you cannot live without?

Baby talk

I have a confession to make. I sometimes love to "baby talk". Pag nagpapacute or naglalambing. And sometimes I even record it too. But when I watched this video, wow, grabe, kinabog ako ni Katrina Halili. Hahahaha! Baby talk kung baby talk. Winner! :)

Watch the video. Fave part ko is at 3:17 when Katrina Halili said "Girlfriend mo lang sya, ako asawa mo eh!". Hahaha! I wonder what Vicki Belo felt when she saw this video a year ago.

This is what lust, drugs and stupid love can do to you. So kids, beware!

Day 6 of the 14-Day Challenge

Remember when I told you I received a mystery package in the mail last week, right?

Mystery Hair Care Brand

The cat's finally out of the bag because the Mystery Hair Care Pack is none other than PANTENE!

I started using the product a couple of days ago. And I really love the smell of the shampoo! When I opened the bottle, it reminded me of nice memories when I was little. The shampoo smells like this melon candy I used to eat way back in Elementary. The scent is not entirely fruity, but just the right hint of sweetness to make your guy go gaga over you when he catches the scent of your hair.

What about the conditioner? Hmmm, the conditioner doesn't have the same scent as the shampoo. It smells okay but not as awesome. I still love the conditioner though despite the fact that the smell doesn't follow you. Here's why:

My hair is short but when I feel tired at work, I usually tie my hair in a bun so I can massage the stressed muscles at the back of my neck.

So when I un-tie it after 8 hours, I look like a mess! Hair's curled every which way! UGH!

Wow, BRUHA!

And it's not just messy and curly, it's also full of tangles. Probably because I have a weird way of tying my hair. When I started using the conditioner, I can feel that my hair has less tangles - whether it's wet or dry. There's no major improvement in my hair texture yet, c'mon, cut it some slack, it's only been 6 days. LOL! But the minor changes that I can see as early as now is that it's bouncier and it's softer to the touch.

I will continue using PANTENE in the next few weeks in the hopes that I can see better results when it comes to hair texture and elasticity.

PANTENE Hair Care products

One more day to go before the week is over, yeheyyyyy! It's raining outside, hope everyone's safe and dry!

Sexy Tummy in the City

I watched Sex and The City 2 last Friday with a good friend of mine. It was this same friend who I watched the Part 1 of the movie with. He was the one who introduced me to SATC, and I got hooked since then. We watched the movie around 3pm in Trinoma and was done by 5pm. Luckily, there was no traffic in Commonwealth so I was able to reach home slightly before 6.

Look at his car trinket. Looks weird, right?

So what did I do on a Friday night? Hmmmm... well, I was awed by the sight of Sarah Jessica Parker's abs in the movie that it inspired me to work-out. I don't know how old she is but she's still fit as a horse. Damn that woman!  I have always fitted into a size 24 jeans but sitting my ass all day at work has taken its toll on my tummy. Yes, that's the modern occupational hazard. Hehe!

Operation: Big Tummy No More

Because I have thoraco-lumbar scoliosis, doing sit-ups can do more harm than good to my posture. So the next best thing is to do a reverse sit-ups or reverse crunch. Since it was my first time to work out after a very long time, I didn't want to scare my would-be muscles off, so I only did 75 reps. Hahaha!

The Promise

I promised myself that I would be doing this every night for the rest of my life. Yeah sure! LOL. I am not aiming for abs but I would just like to flatten my tummy - as in super flat like the SCTEX. Hehehe! I don't want to let myself go. At least not till I'm married. Hahahahaha!

How about you, got any tummy exercises you want to share?

My Unpure Pick of the Week : SKINGLOW

It is hard to face your problem especially if the problem is your face.
I know this much is true. Hehe. It's a good thing that I didnt have to deal with pimples or acne during my growing up years BUT, wait there's more, LOL... instead of these, I have to deal with uneven blotches on my face particularly on my forehead! WTF right? Maybe because it's this part of the face that is more exposed to the sun. Big SIGH. I live in super-freaking-duper-tropical-hot Manila so avoiding the sun is really not an option. It's either I become a hermit or I live somewhere far and cold like Switzerland.

I have consulted several dermatologists about this problem and they have always recommended the same things - chemical peels and other products that are hydroquinone-loaded. I get instant results with hydroquinone, don't get me wrong, but as soon as you stop using the product the blotches come back. Plus I can't take all the redness and peeling and itching that comes with it. :( (Yes, It's hard to be a girl.)

I have recently discovered a skincare line that aims to improve the over-all complexion of the face (and neck) without the use of hydroquinone. The products do not contain harsh chemicals that it can also be *used by pregnant women. This product doesn't offer instant results but what it does is it gradually improves the texture and the elasticity of your skin from the inside out.

This picture was taken with no make-up. Look how my forehead is darker than the rest of my face, right? On top of that, my T-zone area has a tendency to be a bit oily especially in the afternoon when the sun is at its hottest!

I was recommended to use the orange soap everytime I wash my face and then apply the Collagen Cream plus the Sunblock during the day and the Whitening Cream at night. Wow, no astringents or clarifying lotions to add? Nice! :) Perfect for lazy people like.....uhmmm.. ME! At least all I had to do is wipe the cream and go! Hehe!

Since I work at night, I use the daycream at night and the night cream during the day. Hehe, funny right? But it's true. I can see a gradual improvement on my skin (particularly my freaking-f*cked-up forehead! Haha) after using the product for 5 days.  I like that it doesn't give me scandalous-Edward Cullen-pale white skin overnight. That way, the improvement is more natural and not over-bearing.

I like using their sunblock (with SPF30) because it is in a clear-gel form and it is not oily and sticky. It gives my face the right amount of sun-protection and the right amount of gloss that makes my face look dewy. And best of all, it doesn't leave a white cast that will make me look like a walking 'espasol'. Hahaha!

I didn't have any qualms about trying the product (eventhough it has not been released in the market yet) because it is BFAD approved.  I initially told myself that I'd only test-run this product for 10 days but because I am seeing good results, I am going to continue this regimen.

I have friends coming up to me lately to say that my skin looks bright and healthy. And that is exactly what I want to achieve. Yay! And by the way, this product doesn't cause hair shortening, I just coincidentally had a haircut during my self-imposed trial period. Hehehe.

My Unpure Verdict : This product doesn't guarantee overnight result but it surely does what it says it will do.Give this product a try and notice how your skin texture and radiance will improve in a couple of weeks.

(I already used half of the soap before I remembered to take a picture of the product! Haha! Excited much?)

MY UNPURE PICK OF THE WEEK

I have seen a decent improvement in the number of hits since I started this blog December of last year and when I did a historical background of my posts that gathered the most views, I learned that the article was either sex-related or beauty and wellness-related. Because of this, I will start a new segment here where I'll feature products and/or services that I find amazing (or not).

DISCLAIMER: I will only recommend products/services that I have personally tried/availed to ensure an honest-to-goodness review.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are vain creatures - men, women, men who want men, women who want women, men who want other men's women... LOL! You get the drift, right? Whether we admit it or not, we are very much particular about our skin and our over-all look.

I am not gifted with good skin.  In fact, I have uneven blotches on some parts of my face. Maybe because of sun exposure (without sunblock) or maybe because of shitty products I've used in the past (goodbye hydroquinone). It's a good thing that there was someone smart and vain enough to invent the concealer! Thank goodness for concealers! LOL! You're a definite lifesaver. Hahaha!

I have recently been introduced to this line of facial product that is not yet officially released in the market. When I learned that this product didn't have hydroquinone, I sort of fell in love with it from the get-go. I started using it just today and I will update you every once in awhile once I see results.

So for the meantime, just sit back, relax and don't forget to put sunblock while you're at it.

The New Me

Looking at old photos makes me nostalgic and cathartic at the same time. It makes me realize how far I've come - in life, in looks (hahaha! As if!), in everything.  Photos are not only visible imprints of yourself, it also takes you back to that particular moment, to that particular feeling when that picture was taken.

I was thin as a rail (read: 70lbs!) during my growing up years. Not to mention, super dusky too! Haha! My classmates way back in elementary would always tease me because of these qualities.  To their defense, they never bullied me or anything (thanks to my Granny who was always to the rescue), but somehow it made me feel like I was the 'Ugly Duckling'. I was putting up a brave front, but deep inside I was feeling soooo inferior. It never got to the point where I would cry because of their incessant teasings, instead, it proved as a challenge for me to be at my best! What I lacked in the 'visual department', I more than made up for in matters of the intellect! *wicked smile*

I studied real hard and got good grades in school. I was Valedictorian during my Elementary years and Salutatorian in Highschool. I joined several quizbees (spelling bees mostly! Haha! and math too) and even went as far as running for the Student Council (I won as far as I recall).  I earned the respect of my teachers and classmates.  The teasing stopped (okay, it did not totally stop but it lessened. LOL), and people were starting to notice me beyond my physical attributes (or lack thereof).

I was starting to gain people's attention and I slowly became a part of the 'IN' crowd (naks)! I started joining not only academic activities but extra-curricular ones too. I joined the dance club. Yes, "Stars" and "Foolish Heart" were among our hit moves back then. Haha! I don't know when or how it actually started, but I was slowly coming out of my shell.

From Drab to Fab!

Looking back at this photo 16 years later brings a smile (okay, to be honest, I laughed out loud...and yes, you can laugh too if you want!) to my face.  It takes me back to those years when I was feeling lanky and gawky and ugly as a toad.  It brought me back to the times when I would hide under my Granny's skirt out of embarassment or shame or fear. I am happy to say that I have evolved into a wonderful woman (oh yessssss, I can definitely say that now) - matured, charming, smart and confident.  I have finally come to terms with myself.  I have come to realize that to be able to radiate beauty, you have to feel beautiful inside. To be able to make people love you, you have to love yourself first. Yes, beauty is more than skin-deep.

But of course, you can't just rely on faith, hardwork and self-love. Thanks to GlutaMax, it helps me look fresh and feel good all day, every day! :)

Done in 20minutes! (and nope, it's not what I think you are thinking)

I feel sooooooo guilty for not updating my blog for a couple of weeks now. Things have been pretty busy in the work and personal front that I cannot find myself squeezing in some blog time.

Anyway, I was dressing up for dinner one night last weekend and I noticed that I have managed to cut down my 'prep time' from the usual 1-hour to a record-breaking, heart stopping, eye-popping (hahaha, OA!), mere 20 minutes! Wowwwwww! Yes gentlemen, 20 minutes of 'prep time' is considered short by women's standards. Ha!

Here is a picture of the Unpure One who has just woken up from an afternoon nap-slash-beauty rest. Haha! If you can't find the beauty in the picture, then go to your nearest eye doctor and have a consult! (P.S.: Can you see my abs? If you think I have abs instead of flabs, then you DEFINITELY need to get a consult! Hahaha)

And after 20 minutes of fast shower, swift brushing of the teeth anda very quick blow (drying of the hair), Voila! The Unpure One is done! Of course I did away with the usual ironing of the hair and just decided to wear a headband to hide my unruly mane.

What also kept my shower ritual down to 20 is that I cut back on putting on make-up.  Just a little gloss on the lips and tint on the cheeks and I am readdddddyyyyy.  I don't know if this is one sign of old age, but I noticed that as I get older, I tend to put on less make-up. Maybe because I am simply turning from a frivolously young girl to a matured (hold your laughter please! I can hear you from here!) and fun woman who is comfortable in her own skin.

I have yet to give you an account of my weekend in Bangkok. I will resume amazing you with my funny yet perv thoughts about life and stuff probably this weekend when I am not bothered by work and personal stuff.  Yes, I have a life too aside from blogging. LOL!

So do check back once in awhile for little senseless blogs like this.  'tis actually my way of saying that I am still alive and rockin' but is too hot and bothered fo' bloggin'! (Haha! I should have become a rap artist!)

And by the way, thanks to all of you who keep on following my blog. I noticed that I have just reached 700+ hits in a month's time. Thank you people! I'll leave you with a warm grateful smile that will brighten even the pitch black room of hell.

CUT!

I was actually too lazy to get out of bed but I just had to have a haircut as my hair looks so terrible. The ends, arrrrrrggggghhhhhhh! I look like friziness-personified! Hahaha! Of course, I was exaggerating a bit. (or maybe not! LOL)

Anyway, I'm a complete cheapo so there's this salon near the corner where I live, that caught my cheapo eyes. It read: HAIRCUT Php 35. I think I heard my heart do a double flip! What the fudge, right? It's uberly cheap, just the way I like it. So i made a mental note days before to give this salon a try.

Fast forward to a lazy Sunday morning, I finally managed to haul myself out of my kingdom and have a haircut. When I got there, I suddenly felt like my hair could also use a little haircolor, highlights and cellophane. Damn! It's hard to be a girl sometimes. So, instead of the Php 35 cut that I thought was dirt-cheap, I ended up shelving Php 1,500! Hahahaha! Too much for being a cheapo. TSK!

Well, I was actually happy with the result. I used a darker base then my highlight was a bit yellow-ish on the colorscale. I had to consult with the stylist every once in a while just to make sure that the highlights dont turn out too yellow that I'd look like a blonde-wanna-be. :) Thank goodness, the highlights turned out just fine. (actually it still needed a little more yellow-ing. But it's better than overdoing it.)

I'll post pictures of my hair soon!

I want to...

get a haircut! And haircolor too! (tricolor, actually) I usually want a new look when a new year begins. Yes, I am vain.

I want to copy Nicole's 'do! But in a darker and browner shade to match my skintone.

Now all I have to do is to convince one of my friends to accompany me to the salon. 'will update you later.
