Bridal Shower

I organized a bridal shower for a friend. It was a semi-surprise party. Why semi-surprise? Because they knew that a bridal shower was going to happen but they didnt know where it would be held. Hehe. Sneaky, right? :)

I asked all the girls to meet-up in Metrowalk by 8pm and when most of the guests were already there, I told them to go to our party venue - Victoria Court in Pasig! Hehehe.  I booked the "Matrix"-themed room and I ordered a food package for 10 people.

I also bought cake and lollipops for the bridal shower. Here are some of the "facebook-friendly" pics from last night. The other pictures are for our eyes only, hahaha.

Condoms, Banana and Lots of Ahermmmm.... Props for our Bridal Shower games :)

"Walang babaeng pangit, sa t*t*ing galit.... Hahahahaha!"

Matrix meets Transformers = Futuristic Loveseat! =)

It was a fun night! Makes me wana try their other themed rooms too!

How's your week going so far?

Istapegi

I love to cook (i just don't like washing the dishes afterwards, hahaha) but I don't like to cook for one. Feeling ko it's impractical - waste of time, energy and gas (ang mahal na ng gas noh!). I do a bit of cooking on weekdays but most of the time, it's either fastfood or food from our office pantry. Hehe.

That's why I always look forward to our Sunday lunches at my parents' house because that's the only time that I get to experience real home-cooked meals.  Perfect attendance kameng magkakapatid yesterday, good job! Hahaha! And as always, my mom cooked a hearty lunch for us. Yehey!

Thank you Lord for the gift of family!

My lovely sisters =)

I feel so busog and blessed. Hee! :)

(And my favorite part of all - lagi akong may take-out! HAHAHAHAHA!)

Hope you all had a great weekend!

Sinful

I am a rice-lover. I eat rice with anything!  If rice were a man, I'd ask him to marry me. Twice. LOL. I bet we'd make a great pair!

When I'm out on dates and they ask where I want to eat, my staple answer is "Anywhere where there's plenty of rice!". HAHAHAHA. I used to consume 2-3cups of rice per meal.  But since I am not getting any younger, I decided to cut it down to one.

And since November, I switched to brown rice. They say it's healthier. I don't know if it's true pero wala lang, gusto ko lang maki-uso. Haha.

Pero enough of all this health shit because last night I had rice + wagyu + bacon for dinner! Now I know how an orgasm feels like! *insert evil laugh*

Do you guys have any new foodie finds that are sinfully delish? Please share them with me so I can try.

Walang Labada si Inday

I've been praying for a quiet and relaxing weekend for quite sometime now but rest has become very elusive. School, work and back to back hosting rakets have eaten so much of my weekends. But today, God has finally given me a free dayyyyyy!!!!!! Yeheyyyyyyyyy! One whole day where I can just stay home, wear my ratty pambahay and just stay in bed.

I started my day early because I'm so excited to do nothing for one whole day! Hahahahaha! I had dumplings, lumpia and rice for breakfast. IN BED! While alternately watching recent episodes of Gossip Girl, Grey's Anatomy, Dexter, Modern Family and BBC docus.

A friend called me earlier today asking if I want to go out but I declined because free days like this are so hard to come by so I have to make it worth while. Hehehehhehehe! I. WILL. JUST. STAY. IN. BED. THE. WHOLE. DAY. Ang saya sabihin paulit ulit. Hahahahahaha!

I bought a whole roll of cake, lots of chips and cookies and I'm planning to finish them all IN BED. Hehehe! Ang sarap ulit-ulitin pramis. :) While most of my friends long for a weekend at the beach, or out in the malls, ako satisfied nako to be given one whole day to just stay in and do whatever! Life's simple pleasures. =)

I have a birthday party to host tomorrow at the Fort so i'll make the most out of my free day today! Yeyyyy!

I hope you guys get a dose of relaxation as well! Mwah! Have to cut this short because MY BED IS WAITING FOR ME! Yehey! Hahahahahaha.

Sunday's Best

One of my best childhood memories is going to church every Sunday.  My mom would wake us up early so we can hear mass before lunch.  I am not a religious person but I've come to love our Sunday ritual because it involved sharing precious time with my siblings and my parents.  I can still remember those times after mass when I would pester my dad to buy me those colored chicks that were being sold outside the church, hahaha.  My usual Sunday requests were either that or one big balloon! Those were the highlight of my Sundays!

When I got a little older, my requests have evolved from chicks to fishes! I would always ask my dad to buy those little colorful ones or those fishes that had big eyes.  I always look forward to Sundays because after hearing mass and fish-hunting, we'd always end it with a hearty lunch in the mall.  We'd share stories and laughter over food.  Ultimate bonding at its best!

When I was already in my teens and no longer cared for colorful chicks or big-eyed fishes, I still loved going to  church with them because I've developed a deeper appreciation of what the whole ritual is and everything that it represents.

Many years later.. my siblings got married and had families of their own and me? .. well, I've started living a life of my own, too! Hehehe.  Since then, our Sunday rituals have become few and far between.  We still try our best to get in the swing of things but it's not the same as before.  We don't live under the same roof anymore so it's hard to get everyone together.

♥♥♥ L O V E ♥♥♥

It's been awhile since we've all gotten together na walang absent. Hehe. (Ako usually ang absent.)  I still spend time with each one of them but I just miss those times when we'd bond together as a complete family.  I miss our Sunday rituals.  I miss them.  I miss being with them.

What were your days like when you were little?  Share!

Stormy Tuesday!

I left work early because the weather's really bad.  The rain was tolerable but the wind was ferocious! My lovable brother sent me the cutest SMS just when I was about to go home- "Sis, lakas ng hangin! Maglagay ka ng hollow blocks sa bulsa mo baka liparin ka sa payat mo! Text me when you're home na."

When I got home, the power was out! It was a good thing that I had my laptop fully charged and I have a few candles in stock.  So here I am on a stormy Tuesday, eating goto with egg while watching Horrible Bosses on my computer.  Hehe!

Keep safe and dry people!!!!!

Pagoda

I took a day off from work yesterday.  Ran a few errands and then spent the afternoon bonding with my parents. Did a bit of shopping for my mom too. Grabe, ang mahal ng shoes nya. Parang ndi muna ko kakaen ng 4 months. Hahahaha. Pero okay lang, priceless naman yung saya nya. :)

And then I spent the evening bonding with a friend.  We had a good massage. Sarap! I slept during the rub-down and when I woke up, I felt rejuvenated. Yey!

After the massage, my friend and I had dinner somewhere in Quezon City. I was wearing blue maong shorts and a blue shirt yesterday and to my surprise, the waitresses in the restaurant were also wearing the same thing. HAHAHAHAHA!

Kalurks.

Have a great weekend everyone!

The Raket Diaries: Cafe Puccini

Have you guys seen Cars 2 yet? If you still haven't, make it your number 1 mission this coming weekend! Disney Pixar didn't disappoint. I don't like watching animated films, especially when it's in 3D because I get a mild headache after. (Probinsyana kase ko, ndi sanay sa 3D glasses, lol.) But because it's from Disney, and it's Cars, I don't mind getting a little buzz-ed.

A couple of weekends back, I hosted a party in Cafe Puccini in the Fort.  It was the birthday of this cute little boy named Samou. The whole cafe was closed to give way to his birthday party and because they were Japanese, they just want to downplay the decorations. They just asked for yellow and white balloons to be placed in each table. Simple but cute.

They prepared Cars-themed prizes and loot bags for the kids.

The kids were too cute! They were mostly Japanese so it's a good thing that I speak Japanese Ingrish. Hahahahaha!

I am resting from my hosting rakets for awhile because sometimes I do back-to-back parties on weekends, wala nang time para mag rest. Baka mamatay ako ng maaga, ahahahaha! But I miss it. I miss seeing the smile on the kid's faces. I miss playing with them. Withdrawal syndrome ata tawag nila dito. Or sign of aging? Hehehe!

Happy Monday people!

The Peeping Tom

Who is Tom? And why is he so popular? Hahaha. So what does this slang term mean and where did it originate?

Peeping Tom is a nickname commonly given to voyeurs, particularly males. It originated with the, in the legend of Lady Godiva, when a man named Tom watched her during her nude ride and was struck blind or dead. [wikipedia]

People who personally know me knows how long it takes for me to finish a meal.  Super lakas ko kumaen pero super bagallllllll. I love taking mini-breaks in between. I don't do it deliberately but it's just how I am. I like to relish my dining experience -  whether it be in a nice restaurant, a yummy fastfood joint or my favorite turo-turo. Hehehe.

I was an hour early for a lunch meet-up with a friend. We agreed to meet in The Fort. I was super hungry the moment I got there but since we were planning to have lunch together, I just decided to eat something light. Pampalipas-gutom muna while waiting. So I ordered burger and fries in Burger Avenue.

I was scanning the area, looking for familiar faces and when I looked up I realized that there's a Fitness First on the 2nd floor. And what's even better was I can see right through the glass of people who were working out.

I got fixated on this guy and before I knew it, ubos ko na pala ang burger ko! Hahahahahaha! I think naubos ko sya in 7minutes! World record!!!!!

*** After 7 minutes ***

Nagutom kase ko bigla sa nakita ko, hahahahahaha!

Does that make me a Peeping Tom? What you guys think?

If John Doe has a female equivalent in the form of Jane Doe, what is it for Peeping Tom?

Sirit na?

Peeping Pepe! :) Hehehehe! Yes, that's what I am.

Weekend Tales: CERCHIO GRILL and LOUNGE

I love vegetables. There are days when I crave for nothing but veggies. My favorite vegetables are OKRA (because it is slimy when you pop it! It reminds me of something, haha!), AMPALAYA (because it is bitter and long and it has cute jagged ridges! Again, it reminds me of something, LOL!) and POTATOES. Speaking of potato, here's my favorite patatas joke of all time --

Two wives are buying vegetables in the palengke:
Wife 1: Mare, pag nakakakita ako ng potato, naiisip ko itlog ng mister ko!
Wife 2: Bakit? Ganyan ba kalaki?
Wife 1: Hindi! Ganyan siya kadumi!

I have a new addition to my list of favorite veggies - The CUCUMBER! Wait, is cucumber a vegetable? I don't feel like googling about it today but I'm almost (Operative word: ALMOST, lol)  sure that it is classified as a vegetable. Hehe.

Cool as Cucumber - P95

I went to this restaurant that serves the coolest Cucumber concoction! And the drink is aptly called - "Cool as Cucumber". It's a mixture of anything and everything nice. Hahahaha! (Wala akong kwenta magdescribe noh? LOL)

The name of the restaurant is CERCHIO. It's in Tomas Morato - right at the corner where Don Hen is located.

I honestly do not know how it is pronounced because I never bothered to ask any of the waiters. Hmmmm... Anyway, I am no designer but I like the interior of the place. There arent alot of visual distractions in the restaurant so you can focus on your food, your date or whoever it is that you're with, hehe!

Minimalist Appeal

Here's what I ordered --

Pork Sisig - P230

Ang walang kamatayang Sisig. BOW. I liked how they plated the sisig. It was served in a bunch of three and each had a sunny-side-up quail egg on top! Hehehehe! I like my sisig crunchy and dry so I was a bit bummed out when I tasted mayonnaise in their sisig. It still tasted good but it would have tasted better sans the mayo.

Next up, KARE-KARE! Their Kare-kare more than made up for my not-so-heartening-sisig-experience.  There are only three ways I want to die

(1) I want to die peacefully in my sleep
(2) death by erotic asphyxiation
(3) I want to die by eating too much of this Kare-kare.

Yes, that's how much I loved their Kare-kare! Buwis-buhay ang lasa! Hahahaha! The peanut sauce was not too sweet and the pork and towels (tuwalya, haha!) were super tenderrrrr!

Grilled Kare-kare - P450

There are still alot of other interesting food to try in their menu, unfortunately, my stomach can only hold so much wonderful gastronomic treats. But I will be back for sure. Again. And Again. Hehe.

And oh, last but not the least, they get 1,000 pogi points for having a big and clean restroom. =)

If you guys want to try it out, here's their address :

CERCHIO GRILL and LOUNGE

Have a happy weekend!!!!!

I pulled a Cinderella last night....

I went out last night after work. You know how sometimes you want to unwind mid-week to rid yourself of stress? That was how I was feeling last night. Well, I am not really stressed at work. Thank God! But I just felt like I wanted to unwind on a week day.

So anyway, after dinner, I went to a bar somewhere in Quezon City. They were playing hits from the 70s and 80s. I feel so ancient! Hehehe!

I had a mild headache last night so I took an Advil and downed it with a frozen Margarita.

I was thinking of having another round of cocktails but I decided not to since I still have work the following morning. I am a responsible adult, of course. =)

So I ordered Cappuccino instead. Decaf. Hehehehe.

Ako lang ata ang umiinom ng kape kagabe sa bar na yun! Hahahaha! Lola na lola lang ang dating ko. Speaking of coffee, it tasted like cardboard! The coffee in our office vendo tastes wayyyyy better! And it's only P3 a cup! Beat that!

So I just sat there and did what I do best - and that is to people-watch and to eavesdrop on their conversation! HAHAHAHAHA! It's so relaxing.

A couple of my friends dropped by too and they noticed that I lost weight.

I told them that I went on a diet for a month because I have the worst muffin top! (I skip one meal a day and just compensate by eating crackers and soup.) Tinawanan nila ko. Tumigil na daw ako kaka-diet kase buto-buto nalang daw ako. *insert sad face here*

I was already home by 12MN because I am a responsible adult and I need to be at work early the following day (which is today, hehe).

And that is the story of the Single Girl in the Suburbs, hehehe.

It's weekend once again! Where are you planning to go? Sama ko! :)

Weekend Tales: Bawai's Vietnamese Restaurant

My friend and I headed to Tagaytay two Saturdays ago to have lunch. It was a foggy and rainy trip because there was a typhoon that day.

Bad timing, I know. But we already planned it days before that's why we wanted to push through - rain or shine.

I looooove Vietnamese food! When I went to Vietnam last year (click here), I did nothing but eat eat and eat! Because seriously, there's nothing that you can do in Vietnam except that. Hahahahaha! Everything that I ate when I was there was delicious! Kahit sa restaurant, kahit sa kanto-kanto - lahat masarap! =)

So when my friend invited me to have Vietnamese lunch in Tagaytay, I said yes right away!

BAWAI'S TAGAYTAY

If you want to have lunch at Bawai's, you have to allot about 1 1/2 to 2 hours travel time if you're coming from Quezon City. The place is hard to find so make sure that you call them prior to your actual visit so you can get instructions from the owner.

Actually, you really need to call them beforehand because they don't accept walk-ins. You need to make reservations and place your order (from what I know, the place is open only on weekends).  The owner is very nice and accomodating so you can just ask them for their highly recommended dishes.

I didnt take too much pictures because I was too busy eating all the sumptuous treats before me.

We ordered the usual Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Shrimp Sticks, Pho and Pork.

"Heart Attack waiting to happen"... hahaha! But 'twas worth it! :)

Shrimp Sticks.. I forgot what they call it on the menu but this one's my favorite. I only remembered to take a picture of this when it was down to the last bite. Hahaha! 5pcs sya when you  order this.

Ubos na! Hahahahaha! Grabe, I ate so much that day my tummy didnt have enough room for dessert. Sayang! :)

It started to drizzle when we were about to have lunch. The sky's dark, the leaves were rustling and there was a violin instrumental playing in the background. Perfect! Kulang na lang kumot at unan, heaven na heaven na talaga! Hahahahahaha!

The weather that day was conducive for sleeping! Gusto ko na dapat matulog sa couch nila.

It's a nice place to bring your friends and family for a quiet and relaxed lunch or dinner.

Weekend Tales: Yakimix and Xcess!

I went out with my officemates and friends last Saturday. We decided to have dinner in Yakimix to check out what everyone's raving about. What I mostly had were fish and shrimps while my officemates favored the more sinful pork and beef.

Major lamon talaga ginawa ko that's why I don't have decent pics during dinner. It's either nakanganga or andameng food sa mouth. LOL! Napagod ako kaka-grill, seriously. Hehe. Binayaran mo na nga, pinagluto ka pa! It doesn't sit well with me.

After a very hearty dinner, we decided to go to Xcess to dance all the calories away! Hehehe. It being a Saturday night, the bar was packed! Ang init at ang daming mga bagets. Ugh.

I think I drank one beer too many because I had a very serious head-ache the morning after and my legs were pretty sore from too much dancing. Sign of aging!!!!!!!!

But all in all, I had a lot of fun because I get to spend time with my friends.

How'd your weekend go?

Puss in Boots

**Signs that I’m about to get my period –

1. Crying for no reason at all. I cried yesterday, but those were happy tears. I’m in a good, peaceful state now and I’m happy that I’ve finally gotten my groove back.

2. Reading erotica like there’s no tomorrow. Hehehe. I will explain no further.

3. Cramps. =(

4. Insatiable craving for chocolate!!!! I’ve been eating Twix and Raisinets like crazy! Somebody stop meeeeee!

On a sidenote, I bought a cool pair of rocker-chick shoes last weekend and I decided to wear it to work yesterday (kahit hindi naman sya bagay na pang opisina) to give it enough mileage. Hahaha! Ngayon ko lang narealize na lahat talaga ng first-time MASAKIT! Nyetang yan, ang sakit ng paa ko yesterday pero of course tiniis ko. Ganun talaga minsan, pag walang hirap, walang sarap. Tiis-ganda talaga dapat. Hehehe!

Have a great Wednesday everyone! Beeee happy! J

Midnight Snack

I'm a junkfood junkie. In other words, I'm a walking MSG. Haha! I eat chips while I'm surfing the net. Reading a book is more fun when I've a bag of chips within reach. When I feel sleepy at work, I eat chips to keep me awake (best paired with ice-cold Coke or iced tea).

Junkfood is man's greatest creation next to hair-straightening iron and ribbed condoms! Hahaha!

But I know that eating too much junk is harmful to my kidney (or is it liver)? Basta, its bad for the health. So lately, I'm trying my best to cut down on chichirya. Instead of eating potato chips, I eat real potatoes. I experimented in the kitchen recently and I discovered this yummy junkfood alternative.

Buy baby potatoes and young corn and fry them in butter. I really don't know if 'fry' is really the right term for it. Basta ipagulong gulong nyo lang sa pan na may butter until maluto. Then put curry powder, salt, rosemary and basil leaves. Don't overcook it because it tastes better if the veggies are only 3/4 cooked. It's so easy to make. If you want to go healthy all the way, replace the butter with olive oil.

I don't have a picture to post because naubos ko na sya! Next time nalang :-)

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Good Morning Manila!

I visited my parents last night because I miss them and because it was Father's Day. I am busy with work on weekdays and I have school on Saturdays, so the only time that I can visit them is Sunday/s. It was raining like crazy last night, OA! We were driving along the Timog area and most of the resaturants were full. Ang daming daddies na nasa labas kagabe! Hehe.

My brother's hungry already so we just decided to eat in Hap Chan in West Ave. I didn't take alot of pictures because gutom na ko e, haha! Galit galit muna.

After dinner, I slept at my parents house. I rarely sleep there eversince I moved out. So last night, my dad made lambing to me and asked if I can just spend the night there. So ayun, natulog kame magkatabe. Kyooot! :) I will always be my dad's baby.

I woke up at 6AM this morning because my friend called me up. Magkape daw kame ng six-freaking-AM! Wag na daw ako maligo! Hahahaha! Kadiri diba? :) Pero ayus lang yun, nagtoothbrush naman ako eh, pwede na yun! Hahahaha!

So we're here now in Starbucks.. enjoying what's left of the long week-end.

Cake pops! My peborit!

Ang laki ng sala ko diba? Hahaha, bahay na bahay lang! :)

How about you, what did you guys do over the weekend? Did you go somewhere fun? Share!!!

Let's all have a great week aheaddddddd!

RUB Ribs and BBQ, Tomas Morato

If you want to rub elbows with one of the tastiest ribs in this side of town, you better head over to RUB Ribs and BBQ. Since I was just home all weekend (well except for the quick dinner I had in Katipunan last Saturday) nursing over my sickness, I felt like I needed to go out and eat something good. And that was exactly what I did this morning.

RUB Ribs and BBQ is a new addition to the rows of restaurant in Morato. It is located at Sct. Rallos, just a couple of tumblings away (haha) from Shakey's.

The place is not that big but it looks homey and cozy inside. We ate in the 2nd floor which can accomodate about 20-25 people, approximately. (if they're all as slim as me, hahaha!)

We ordered french fries & nachos while we were waiting for our ribs to arrive. I wasn't able to take a decent picture of the fries because I was hungry already, I only remembered to take a photo when it was almost na-dah. Hehe, sorry naman, tao lang. The dip was orgasmic! I forgot what it's called but it was mayo-based with a hint of garlic and everything divine. LOL.

It would've been better if the nachos had a little bit of pork, cheese and veggies sprinkled on top.

See I told you, ubos na  yung fries when I remembered to take a picture! Hahaha!

I don't think I can finish a whole slab so I only ordered half a slab of pork ribs & rice with corn as side dish. My friend ordered the same for himself except that his sidedish was mushroom and spinach.

Masarap sya sabayan ng beer, pramis!

And last but not the least, there were interesting quotes that were on display all over the resto. Naaliw ako basahin sila isa-isa. Below are my favorites --

"When things go wrong, don't go with them!"

Let's all start our week right! Think positive thoughts!!!! (5 days nalang, weekend na naman! Yeheyyyyy!)
